PELIKAN SOUVERAN M1000 RADEN BLACK INFINITY FOUNATIN PEN
Pelikan is pleased to present the new limited edition fountain pen in the Raden series that combines Japanese decorative art with the famous Souveran M1000 series fountain pen. Thus was born the Pelikan Raden M1000 Black Infinity, a limited edition of only 400 pieces. The traditional Japanese Raden technique, used for wooden and lacquered artefacts, is obtained by working thin strips of Abalone, the shell of a seashell. And this is how the artist gives shape to a magnificent work of art: each fountain pen is a handmade masterpiece.
To make the Pelikan M1000 Black Infinity Raden, the green mother-of-pearl elements are selected and then polished and cut by hand into rectangular shapes. The manufacturing process begins with lacquering the barrel with the famous Japanese urushi lacquer. In the next step, the strips are attached to the cap and barrel by a layer of lacquer.
Several coats of lacquer are applied, each of which must dry and harden completely before the next layer is applied. Between the finishing stages, the lacquered surface of the fountain pen is polished repeatedly. The shimmering effect seen on the black urushi lacquer is achieved with silver powder. Finally, the master individually signs and numbers each fountain pen using the Maki-e technique.
The design motif used on the Pelikan M1000 Black Infinity is reminiscent of a chessboard without beginning or end. It is a design that symbolises lasting family happiness, prosperity, positive development and professional success. The fountain pen is a masterpiece of Japanese and German craftsmanship, embellished with an 18-carat gold nib and the traditional piston filling system. Each pen is enclosed in a Paulownia wood case.
Limited edition of only 400 pieces worldwide.
