Damascening is a very ancient art that is still practised today by a very small number of specialised craftsmen. With the ‘Toledo’ fountain pen, Pelikan intends to pay tribute to this technique, so complex and rich in small details. The new Special Edition Toledo M910 White celebrates the uniqueness of this craftsmanship. Its main distinguishing feature is the decoration that embellishes the barrel of the pen. Several elaborate steps are required to complete the small details of the pelican motif, which is then hand-finished by a goldsmith. As a result, each writing instrument becomes a unique expression of his or her creativity. The decorative band in 925 sterling silver is characterised by two different scenes: in the first, a small pelican is depicted together with another specimen with outstretched wings, while the second features a pelican with an open beak. Both motifs are framed by ornamental elements. During the manufacturing process, the designs are engraved on the decorative band and then the filigree details are applied by hand. Finally, the surface is coated with palladium. The fountain pen features an 18-carat gold nib available in EF, F, M and B widths. Each Toledo writing instrument is unique and handmade in Germany.
